"Pos Tapes the Album," by BPos, is a collection of the best songs selected from a trilogy of digital albums (Pos Tapes Vol.1-3) released by the group over the past 2 years.

When listening to Pos Tapes Vol. 1-3, you can hear the development of BPos' individual brand of Hip Hop music taking place. After the group's debut album, "The Upside," peaked at #4 on CMJ Hip Hop (June, 2010), there was a new trend in independent music afoot. Artists were giving away music, for free, online as "Digital Albums."

The initial plan was to follow along with the tide and give away some free music in order to excite and maintain the current fan base as well as attract new interest and gain exposure.

One day, BPos was sitting in their studio remenising about the crazy ways they used to have to go about making music, and they started talking about Pause Tapes. Pause tapes is the name for a low budget style of making beats, developed in the 80's, using cassette tapes and a tape recorder. It was a perfect play on words that would spark nostalgia in the people who remember pause tapes as well as enlighten the younger generation to the roots of Hip Hop music.

These "Pos Tapes" became something very special. It wasn't your usual free music, rushed and pushed out without much consideration for artistic integrity. These were full length albums with completely original material. Each "Pos Tape" entirely features beats from 1 producer (Vol.1: Big Shawn, Vol. II: Tahaj the First, Volume Three: ghostNOTES). And the trilogy as a whole serves as a splendid exhibit of BPos' versatility.

San Francisco is one of the toughest places to build a career in the music industry. But BPos looks to be the best thing to come out of San Fran since the band Journey.
