about

“Another important way to preserve the
sanctity of our art form is by sticking it
to the assholes who jumped in this
business to make a quick buck off their
fellow artist. Granted, good work in this
industry from spits, to production, to
artwork should have a price, but that
price should come with an ample resume
and should be negotiated properly.
San Francisco's own GoodWord is making
an example of one of these characters,
Martin. The story goes, GoodWord is
approached by a producer he
knows only as Martin. Martin expresses
interest in working with GoodWord and
decides to send him a bunch of beats to
choose from. GoodWord, equally
interested in working with Martin, gets
straight to work and bangs out a track
to one of the beats. When GoodWord
sends the track back to Martin, his interest
in working with the Bay Area mc shifts to
an interest in being paid, an interest that
in any ordinary situation should have
been expressed from the gate.
GoodWord made the decision right there
to teach him, and every other producer
with unreal expectations and unethical
business practices, a lesson. "The Thanks
Martin Mixtape" is a big middle finger to
Martin using every beat he sent GoodWord
(without permission of course)and featuring
a script of well known Bay Area mc's
including Z-Man, Conciet, Eddie K, and
more. Every track is dedicated to Martin,
and the cover illustration depicts the
otherwise unknown producer just after
putting a bullet in his own head. For

"The Thanks Martin Mixtape," hit up www.myspace.com/goodword or

lesson one at a time. It's a beautiful thing.”
